The Nurturing Liberation project works towards the Denver ABC purpose of strengthening and defending our social movements by doing what we can to make these movements intergenerational. While we believe that, as former POW Ojore Lutalo says, “any movement that doesn’t support its prisoners is a sham movement,” we also want to add that any movement that marginalizes its children is a sham.
Nurturing Liberation is slowly but swiftly building its intergenerational praxis by providing childcare in movement spaces, putting on child-friendly events, supporting parents, and putting on kid centered events. This project is still in its early stages and needs lots of nurturing itself! Please contact us at denverabc@rocketmail and be on the look out for upcoming activities.
For now, please check out these excellent resources for building an intergenerational movement…
The Bay Area Childcare Collective
Don’t Leave Your Friends Behind (Amazing Resource for Movement Parents and Parent Allies)
The Free Child Project (TONS of Great Resources!)
The Future Generation (Zine-Book about Subcultural Parenting)
Regeneración NYC (An Amazing Childcare Collective)
SOUL (School of Unity and Liberation from Oakland)
After all, the children are, indeed, the future 😀
