A young Mapuche weichafe (warrior), Jaime Mendoza Collío, was killed by Chilean police on August 12. A group of weichafe were reclaiming the land that is occupied by a large farm estate, San Sebastián. Police entered the farm estate heavily armed and with force. A cop ultimately shot 24 year old Mendoza at close range. Mendoza was from the Mapuche community in conflict, Requem Pillán. Mapuche communities in conflict are reclaiming territory from large farm estates and forestry plantations. Wallmapu, Mapuche country, extends from the colonial borders of southern Chile to Argentina.
